Location: City of Wolverhampton College, Wolverhampton

Event: Health Event

Awareness Topics: Alcohol and Drug Awareness

We were invited to take part in the annual health fair at City of Wolverhampton College to promote healthy lifestyles amongst the Year 12 and 13 students. This took place over two days at the Wellington Road and Padgett Road campuses.

The first day of the event was very busy, with both staff and students taking an interest in the resources and information we had available. Due to limited space, we only focussed on the Dry January campaign with accompanying interactive activities such as the units challenge, calories in alcohol game and the alcohol impairment goggles. We also handed out various freebies to the students, including drink spikeys and information on ways they can keep themselves safe from drink spiking.

During the second day we were slightly quieter but had more space to also promote drug awareness. There were a number of students completing their teacher training who took a lot of interest in our leaflets to use with the young people they work with. We advised these could also be downloaded for free from our website.

We received excellent feedback from the students on the day; one student commented that she wished different alcohol and drug information was available every month as she found it very interesting and had really increased her knowledge on the subject.
